Babywearing Field Day

Our first ever Babywearing Field Day was a huge success!  Field Day had been in the works for months, and on July 21st many families and their kiddos came out to South Kitsap Regional Park to play babywearing-themed games, try on carriers, learn more about babywearing, and enter a raffle for some awesome prizes!

The Washington weather gods smiled upon us and we had a ton of sunshine as people competed in a woven wrap tug-of-war (don’t try this at home!), family babywearing sponge race, a mommy carry-a-thon competition (who could complete the most carries in a set time?) and a daddy babywearing obstacle course!  The kiddos who participated had fun choosing prizes from the grab bags, and we gave prizes away to the grown-ups, too!  Our fastest obstacle course dad won a Starbucks gift card and the mommy who won the carry-a-thon, Jana King, won a free year-long membership to Kitsap Babywearers!

We opened up our lending library that day, and began collecting membership forms and dues.  Kitsap Babywearers was official!

So many generous benefactors donated to our raffle that day, including: Simply Sweet Cloth Diapers, Henna by Brandy, Earthbound Family, and King Konversions.  We made almost $300!

That money immediately went toward growing our lending library.  We were able to purchase Babyhawk and Kozy mei tais, as well as three woven wraps!  We now have two Didymos Ninos in a 5 and a 6, as well as a size 2 Storchenweige Albert.

Everyone had a great time, and Kitsap Babywearers’ leaders felt that all their hard work was really worth it.  They look forward to next year’s event being bigger and better, and are currently planning some other sure-to-be-amazing fundraisers for the near future!  Stay tuned!  🙂
